The ULEZ (Ultra-Low Emission Zone) started in 2019 as a small zone in Central London and aimed to reduce air pollution in London by charging drivers of the worst polluting vehicles a fee to drive within the zone.

The recent expansion of this zone in October 2021 is part of a determined effort to further reduce vehicle emissions across the city; and means that drivers of non-compliant cars will now be charged £12.50 per day, if they make a journey within the ULEZ boundaries.

You should check the vehicle tax rates table to confirm costs with the DVLA.

***The DVLA add around 5% to the value of the vehicle tax rate when paying via direct debit, so it will cost slightly more when paying monthly but may help you manage your car tax easier.
